Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy
At Lakeside Neurologic, our mission is to support individuals on their journey to rebuilding the cognitive skills that empower everyday living. One of the most impactful approaches we use is Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy (CRT)—a personalized, evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals recover or compensate for changes in thinking abilities.
What Is Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy?
CRT focuses on strengthening or supporting key cognitive skills, including:
- Memory
- Attention
- Problem-solving
- Organization & planning
- Executive functioning
- Social communication
Every CRT plan is individualized, helping clients overcome challenges related to neurological injuries or conditions such as TBI, stroke, or other cognitive disorders. The ultimate goal: greater independence and improved quality of life.
Who Provides CRT at Lakeside Neurologic?
CRT works best with a strong team behind it — and at Lakeside Neurologic, we’re proud of our comprehensive, collaborative approach.
Our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) serve as the primary providers of Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy, specializing in recovery of cognitive-communication, reasoning, memory strategies, and social interaction skills.
But CRT is truly a multidisciplinary effort. Depending on each client’s needs, support may also come from:
- Occupational Therapists – strengthening everyday functional skills
- Physical Therapists – improving mobility to support cognitive independence
- Mental Health Counselors – addressing emotional well-being, coping skills, and behavioral health needs
- Residential Services Assistants (RSAs) & Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) – reinforcing strategies in daily routines, supporting structure, safety, and consistency in the living environment
- Program Case Managers, Nursing & Medical Staff – ensuring wellness, stability, and integrated care
This interdisciplinary model allows us to look at the whole person—not just the diagnosis—and create a care plan that supports every aspect of daily life.
